ELVIS PRESLEY: SILVER SCREEN ICON
A Collection of Movie Posters
Steve Templeton With a Foreword by Yvonne Craig

On November 15, 1956, a covered forty foot tall cardboard likeness of the hottest star in America hung over the marquee at New York’s Paramount Theater. Legions of fans lined the streets to see the unveiling of their dynamic heartthrob. It was the movie debut of a young phenomenon who had already set the country on fire with his controversial music called “Rock and Roll.” It was also the movie premiere of a civil war melodrama titled Love Me Tender. By the end of the month, Love Me Tender was rivaling the smash hit Giant which starred James Dean, Rock Hudson, and Elizabeth Taylor. As for the movie’s bright new star, critic reviews were mixed, and many were downright horrid. So was the beginning of the movie career of Elvis Presley.
Steve Templeton has spent years collecting Elvis memorabilia. This collection of movie posters spans Elvis’s complete film career in brilliant color. Complete with background and little known information about each movie, this book is a must for Elvis collectors and fans alike. Specific information about each poster style and a special pricing section finish off a beautiful collection of movie posters that is the first of its kind.
